A reading inbox chosen by friends.
th1ng is a small, invite-only reading network: a reading inbox chosen by friends. Each member can share at most one URL a day, and you follow up to seven curators, so your inbox is a finite, seven-day list of things that people you trust thought were worth reading. There’s no feed, no algorithm and no pressure to share every day.
Shares are URLs only: no captions, comments or custom titles, just a preview fetched from the page itself. You can save a share, dismiss it or give its curator a fixed “Thanks”, and that’s it. There are no streaks, scores, notifications or read tracking. The finite inbox is the stopping point.
It’s one of my Lean Machine experiments, built with Ruby on Rails 8, Hotwire and PostgreSQL, with magic-link sign-in and invites. A small group of friends is using it, along with two automatic accounts that share the top story from Hacker News and a top post from LessWrong every morning.
